Brentwood Sedation Dentistry

sedation dentistry in BrentwoodFor more than a century, sedation dentistry has been used to make routine dental procedures more tolerable. In the most recent few decades, sedation dentistry has evolved to include various options that offer patients varying degrees of sedation. At Brentwood Dental Excellence, we are fully trained and accredited for sedation dentistry. We closely monitor patient vital signs throughout each dental visit and are personally attentive to patient needs for the duration of each procedure.

Our office currently features two types of sedation –oral sedation and nitrous oxid sedation.

Oral sedation is a mild form of sedation given in two premeasured doses prior to a dental visit or procedure. Most patients take one pill the night before the visit to help with anxiety and sleet, and then another is taken about one hour before visiting the dentist

Nitrous oxide is better known as ‘laughing gas.’ It is administered in our office via a mask and monitored for steady sedation throughout the office visit. Oxygen is given at the end of the visit, which completely eliminates grogginess or feelings of sedation within minutes.

Both oral and nitrous oxide sedation provide a feeling of ‘floating’ or complete relaxation. However, all these forms of sedation allow for our patients to communicate with us throughout their visits to ensure comfort and control.

*All patients who undergo sedation dentistry at Brentwood Sedation Dentistry must be transported to and from our office by another person on the day of their procedures.
